Overview

Bring your skills and passion to our ITility team. ITility is seeking talented Network Technician/Cable Installer to provide overall support to USMEPCOM MEPS. USMEPCOM is a Major Command of the United States (U.S.) Department of Defense (DoD), which screens and processes applicants into the U.S. Armed Forces. USMEPCOM is the vital link between recruiting and training armed forces and operates 67 Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS) located throughout the U.S. Location of this position, traveling 4 days traveling on location at the United States Military Entrance Processing Command (USMEPCOM) Military Entrance Processing Sites (MEPS), and then 3 days off.

This position requires the successful candidate to be able to pass a Tier 3-Background Investigation. The criteria for passing a Tier 3-Background Investigation are driven by US government requirements. You must be a US citizen to pass a Tier 3-Background Investigation. Selected candidates will receive a contingent offer, and the start date will be delayed until clearing the Tier 3-Background Investigation.

 

 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Rack and stack equipment to include but not limited to switches, routers, firewalls, servers, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), Power Distribution Units (PDU) in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and project documents
  • Patch network connections to and from equipment, and dress patch cables in a professional manner
  • Pull, route, label, test, and terminate horizontal CAT6 cabling
  • Install support structures including data racks, cable trays, j-hooks, and innerduct
  • Install work area network drops in drywall, furniture, floors, and cubicles
  • Punch CAT6 cabling to data blocks, patch panels, and wall jacks using a punch tool
  • Ensure job site is clean at the end of shift
  • Perform testing and troubleshooting of cabling
  • Work in a quick and efficient manner
  • Follow safety and security procedures
  • Collaborate with IT staff on projects and initiatives
  • Provide input for progress and status reports

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Experience with at least the following skillsets, listed in order of importance:

  • Requires US citizenship, and the ability to pass an Indepth DoD Background investigation.
  • 1+ years of experience installing network cabling
  • Active BICSI Certification 
  • Experience installing and dressing cables
  • Knowledge of industry-standard cable specs
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, floor plans, specifications, and cut sheets
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, and crouch for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to climb ladders and perform the necessary tasks while on the ladder
  • Ability to use power tools to drill and cut drywall, wood, metal, and concrete
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Willingness to travel locally and out of state
  • Ability to take direction from management and keep tasks on schedule
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Communication Skills – Excellent communication skills; speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification
  • Dependability – Follows instructions, responds to management direction; keeps commitments
