ITility is seeking a Senior Functional Analyst to join our talented Application Development Team members to provide overall support to the United States Military Entrance Processing Command (USMEPCOM) remotely but with occasional travel to Waukegan, IL in the Great Lakes area. USMEPCOM is the vital link between recruiting and training armed forces and operates 65 Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS) located throughout the U.S.

Responsibilities

The position supports the AWS Application Development teams responsible for building new features and modernizing applications associated with processing recruit candidates enlisting in the armed forces. This role works with three development teams gathering and interpreting functional requirements into non-functional requirements such as data flows, database design and other technical concerns such as user roles and entitlements to development teams. Candidate must have a strong understanding of agile software development, project and problem management, and can promote open communications among teams to ensure collaboration.

 

Qualified candidates should have functional experience working with DoD application modernization projects, with decentralized teams, knowledge of cloud-based applications, designing APIs, and have good written and communication skills, and at least 8 years’ experience analyzing complex software projects for DoD clients.

 

Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Required to lead meetings for requirements elicitation and to analyze complex problem resolutions
  • Lead the definition of user business requirements and ensure they are appropriately addressed in application design, test, and implementation
  • Develop specifications and test plans associated with application development or modification
  • Perform daily updates in tracking tools to keep the team and management informed
  • Participate in sprint ceremonies, often presenting during planning ceremonies
  • Responsible for client coordination and collaboration to fully elicit requirements
  • Responsible for managing multiple confluence pages to drive development planning
  • Provide development and processing support for both “Standard” and “Ad hoc” reports.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications include:

  • Experience working with software projects for cloud-based applications
  • Strong knowledge using Atlassian tools (Confluence and Jira)
  • Ability to define and document custom software workflows for customer business functions and processes
  • Ability to identify and document non-functional requirements such as data flows, charts and diagrams; decompose system capabilities; write API and database specifications, epics, and stories
  • Ability to trace support requirement fulfillment from business need through development and deployment
  • Must be strong communicator and presenter
