  • Overview

    Enable assigned active duty aircrew members to fulfill requirements for achieving/maintaining aircraft mission qualification in their assigned weapon system by providing the flying squadron aircrew scheduling support to the 305th Air Mobility Wing.




    Coordinate with the training office, stan/eval office, Squadron Aviation Resource Management (SARM), mobility/readiness office, Assistant Operations Officer (ADO) and Operations Officer (DO) to arrange a schedule to facilitate operations, qualification, upgrade, test, exercises, and continuation training accomplishment to meet required currency and progression standards, in accordance with DO priorities.


    Build long- and short-range shift schedules to ensure full coverage of all aircrew, instructor, evaluator, support personnel, and supervisor positions. Coordinate with senior squadron leadership on a daily and weekly basis. Coordinate with simulator contractors for sim events.


    Keep track when crewmembers will be on leave, temporary duty, have scheduled medical appointments or other scheduling commitments. De-conflict crewmember schedules and work with flight leadership to ensure crews are available, current, and qualified to meet assigned sortie tasking’s. This data resides in GTIMS and GDSS.


    Maintain 100% accountability of aircrew with availability based on aircrew: deployed, temporary duty (TDY), upgrade training, leave, duties not including flying (DNIF), etc.


    Track and update databases with aircrew deployments, TDYs, local flights, and days at Flying Training Unit (FTU), etc. Data will be used to identify performance numbers (e.g. number of days TDY, days at FTU, number of aircrew deployed, etc.).


    Track daily flight/ground/academic training requirements and accomplishments to facilitate accurate flight scheduling as directed by the operations officer. To the maximum extent possible, schedule aircrew based on experience to mitigate Operational Risk Management (ORM) as detailed in AMCI 90-903 Aviation ORM and as outlined by Air Force Instruction (AFI) 11-2KC-10 volumes 1-3/11-2KC-46 volumes 1-3 (and appropriate supplements). Updates will be reported to squadron and wing leadership.


    Facilitate last-minute schedule changes to ensure full coverage by working with the current mission commander/operations supervisor (or equivalent) and flight responsible for the shift that is not fully manned.


    Complete scheduling portion of applicable squadron Go/No-Go checklist.


    Obtain aircraft and equipment availability data from maintenance (MX) and schedule crewmembers for training, exercises, simulators, and operations, as required.


    Publish/post scheduling data for unit long-/short-range ground/academic, flying, and simulator training event schedules on GDSS/GTIMS, or other computer database systems.


    Comply with Ops Group, Wing Current Operations (OSO), Wing Training (OST), FTU (Flying Training Unit), and OSS (Operations Support Squadron) locally-developed guidance when building the schedule.


    Determine flight, ground, and simulator schedule requirements for upgrade, initial qualification, requalification, transition, currency, evaluation, and continuation training based on syllabus requirements, student progression, weather, and daily equipment/training range availability.


    Perform daily updates of scheduling data to compensate for changing conditions and training completion rates.


    Coordinate with Wing Current Operations (OSO), Wing Training (OST), outside agencies/exercise participants and higher headquarters, for example: Mobility Guardian, RED FLAG, GREEN FLAG, Weapons School support, for reporting and to facilitate exercise and special event schedule coordination.


    Provide inputs to Wing Scheduling.


    Attend weekly meeting for schedule coordination and de-confliction.



    Experience working as an aircrew scheduler.


    Experience working with GDSS2, GTIMS or similar scheduling program.


    Proficiency in the use/application of Microsoft Office products.
