  • Overview

    The Office of Protection is responsible for coordinating and managing all aspects of dignitary protection for the Department of State. Through its specific divisions of Major Events Coordination Unit and Dignitary Protection Division, domestic and overseas protective operations are planned and implemented which includes staffing and providing administrative support to said events.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide administrative and project support to the Division Chief
    • Prepare, edit, and provide quality review of administrative products
    • Prepare and/or edit organizational charts, memoranda, letters, diplomatic notes, briefing papers, and other general office documents and material
    • Maintain Division filing systems (active and inactive), SharePoint sites, staffing calendar, and share drive folders
    • Manage Supervisor’s schedule and appointments, place meetings on the Microsoft Outlook calendar, and confirm outside appointments in advance
    • Organize conference calls; handle logistical arrangements for office meetings, including coordinating with other offices/Bureaus
    • Support proper security protocols; act as visitor escort; provide oversight of proper storage, handling, and destruction of classified material; controlling/limiting access to office space
    • Responsible for receipt and distribution of office mail
    • Must have strong E2 Solutions skills to oversee all aspects of travel to support the Division to include coordinating all logistics and transportation needs and the generation of government travel orders and prepare travel vouchers
    • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint


     

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • US Citizenship
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (Degree not required with an additional three years, for a total of five years, of specialized and related professional experience)
    • Minimum of two years professional experience in a related field**
    • Qualified typist is required with a proficiency in the Microsoft Suite
    • Knowledge of the E2 Travel System and working knowledge of SharePoint
    • Possess working familiarity with DOS regulations; FAM, FAH, DOSAR, DSSR, etc
    • Working knowledge and ability to manage Excel databases and guidelines thereof
    • Experience drafting and editing US government reports and documents
    • Ability to prepare, edit, and provide quality review of written products
    • Must have an Active Secret Clearance
