The Technician shall administer and maintain the digital forensic lab’s in-house computer networks and information technology hardware. The Technician may be required to create forensic images of digital media submitted to the lab for analysis and do so in a manner that maintains the evidentiary chain of custody.


  • Provide routine IT support to analysts and investigators
  • Perform duties in a scientific environment with exacting standards
  • Apply criminal rules of evidence preservation and custodianship to data
  • Testify in judicial proceedings
  • Network Engineer / System Administration
  • Support workstations and forensic tool hardware/software
  • Maintain/oversee  computer network servers and infrastructure
  • Develop specifications for hardware and software upgrades
  • Purchase hardware and software as required
  • Perform general administrative functions


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in related computer field (relevant experience may be substituted for a degree at the discretion of the Digital Forensics Program Manager)
  • Minimum of four (4) years professional experience in a related field
  • Minimum of two (2) forensic, computer, network or evidence/property management certifications
  • Experience drafting US government reports and documents.
  • Must have an Active Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Symantec Backup, Norton Ghost, Microsoft Excel, Virtual Machines, Hypervisor, Dell Switching Technology, Dell EqualLogic storage is desirable.
  • Ability to clearly and consistently organize, manage, and present complex information
  • Ability to work independently on projects and issues within overall policy guidelines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills working with individuals at all levels within the organization
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with superiors, colleagues, business professionals, and the general public
