  • Overview

    Test Engineer supports the AFMC Open Skies PM by providing test engineering expertise in direct support of the Open Skies aircraft and sensor suite acquisition program. Provide knowledge and experience in established and disciplined engineering policies and processes to competently support the development, procurement, sustainment and modification of aircraft systems, sub-systems, components, and equipment.


    • Assist with translating DoD and AF user requirements into C/KC/OC-135 aircraft system-level requirements.
    • Provide technical and mission analyses of operational requirements, developing system concepts, performing technological and trade-off study assessments of proposed designs and modifications and providing recommendations.
    • Assist with reviewing the overall system design baseline (architecture and interoperability) requirements.
    • Accomplish technical reviews of various specifications and technical and procedural Statements of Work (SOWs).
    • Conduct technical evaluations and assessments of the production, installation, performance and acceptability of aircraft systems, components, and equipment modifications and documenting these assessments in technical reports.
    • Assist in the designing, planning, execution, analysis, reporting, and documentation during any phase of Test and Evaluation (T&E) programs to assess and verify the performance of C/KC-135 systems, subsystems, components, and equipment.
    • Participate in Integrated Test Teams (ITTs) and Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs).
    • Assist in the development, maintenance and support of AF Airworthiness products.


    • MS or MA or equivalent and Six (6) years general experience.
    • Knowledge of Air Force acquisition and program management.
    • Professional knowledge of Test and Evaluation concepts, principles and practices and extensive familiarity with other engineering disciplines.
    • Ability to research, analyze, interpret and apply rules, regulations and procedures to a variety of situations and recommend timely and economical solutions.
    • Ability to integrate automated data processing concepts, system capabilities and the economical use to accomplish assigned functions.
    • Ability to plan and organize work, coordinate with other engineering disciplines and communicate effectively, orally,and in writing, as well as maintaining good working relationships.
    • Knowledge of safety regulations, procedures, and practices.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Knowledge of the C/KC/OC-135 program including engineering and production systems, subsystems, equipment, missions, functions, goals, objectives and materials.
    • Knowledge of standard contracting regulations, practices and procedures as well as the regulatory and statutory restrictions on the expenditures of appropriated and non-appropriated funds.
    • Knowledge of the policies, practices, regulations and laws concerning the acquisition management process and initiatives.
    • Knowledge of the engineering and technical aspects of the production, manufacturing and repair processes for the C/KC/OC-135 weapon system avionics systems.
    • Must have an Active Secret Security Clearance.
